This week is one of my favorite in the world of sports. There is no doubt that the Masters is the crown jewel of the 4 Majors. What makes the Masters so special? To me, there are a few reasons that stand out. The Masters is the only major that is played on the same golf course every year. There is so much storied history at Augusta. I can't imagine the feeling that a player has when sitting on the tee at #12 knowing that players like Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer, Jack Niclaus, Gary Player, and more stood on that exact tee and faced that exact shot with all of the azaleas and flowers behind the green and that daunting pond in front.
Another reason that I love the Masters so much is the time of year. As I described in my last post, spring is a time for rebirth. The Masters undoubtedly is the official kickoff to the golf season (at least for those of us in the northern states). There's nothing more invigorating than watching all of the beauty that surrounds Augusta. I know that it makes me want to grab my clubs and finally get out on the course.
What are some reasons why you like the Masters? What would you do if you had the chance to play Augusta? Let us know on our facebook page.
I hope everyone enjoys the Masters this week. I know that I will be watching and enjoying every minute. I will especially love Sunday. Not only is it Masters Sunday and sure to be a fantastic finish, but it's also my birthday. What could be better?
